8.6/10 My end of TFF 2022. A beautiful film as the first work of the director. It's undeniable that a lot of problems can be found, mainly because the storylines are too many, which made the power weakened inevitably. Pakis's effort in looking for her father, her relationship with her mother, her relationship with Lumo, her relationship with the scientist Tudo, and the issue of the environment. When these exist at the same time, it's would be really hard to make each of them clear to the director, and to digest each of them properly to audiences. The main issue of the film, Pakis wanting her daddy back, could have made "The Mirror Never Lies" becoming a more amazing and touching one, but when it went to the middle part of the film, this issue started to be invisible, the story suddenly became romantic comedy about a girl crushes on a handsome scientist and a cute boy crushes on her, sometimes it transforms into a family story with cliché, about a girl's struggling with her mother. It's a weird moment when Pakis faced that her father will never come back, especially when it should be super touching, the mother cries when she said she's gonna find Pakis, to tell the truth about her father, and then next scenes, Lumo and his friend showed up, with the mother never appears in front of the camera even until the last cut of the film. That's why even though the film got plenty of splendid things, it still looks a bit powerless. Yes, I give you some complaints, but when you see my score for it, I think it's easy to figure that I like this peaceful film with mind-blowing views, lovely and unforgettable characters. Thanks to TFF for giving me the chance to watch this, because I think this might be the last chance to watch a Chinese subtitles version.
